Clinic “Marjani” was established in 2001.
“Marjani” is a coral, a reddish colored gemstone. Coral was used both for medicinal purposes and as jewelry in Georgia. The name of our clinic was chosen according to this principle, the medical center “Marjani” has two purposes – medical and aesthetic.
Clinic “Marjani” is a multi-disciplinary medical institution, which combines different areas of medicine: dermatovenerology, trichology, dermato-oncology, dermatosurgery, physiotherapy, endocrinology, nutritionology, psychotherapy, dermatocosmetology and anti-aging medicine as well. It should be noted that this list is growing every year.
Clinic “Marjani” works successfully in all directions and in addition to medical activities, is involved in scientific-research and pedagogical fields.
The team of the clinic is composed of professional doctors who improve their qualifications constantly. They actively participate in international conferences. Our professional stuff, along with classical methods of treatment, use innovative technologies, the latest diagnostic methods, laboratory research, and the new achievements of professional cosmetics. Based on years of work and experience of the clinic, they have developed innovative treatment methodologies.
A brief history of the activity of the “Marjani” clinic is as follows:
2003 – a dermatocosmetology training course was created on the basis of the “Marjani” clinic, which is successfully functioning till nowadays.
2004 – Clinic “Marjan” for the first time held the international conference “Dermatocosmetology 21st century” in Georgia, thereby laying the foundation for the scientific and practical development of a new field, dermatocosmetology. Scientific-practical seminars in mesotherapy (Dr. Philippe Petit, E.B. Eropkina) and master classes (Maria Galland, Perl de Merr) were held within the conference. The materials of the conference were published in the magazine “Experimental and Clinical Medicine” (2004, N3), one issue of which was devoted to the topics covered at the conference.
2005 – “Marjani” was visited by the president of the International Association of Mesotherapy, Dr. Philippe Peti tagain. Along with practical training, he conducted a theoretical course – “Mesotherapy in general medicine and aesthetics”. Georgian doctors, who work today in various aesthetic centers and clinics, attended the training courses conducted by the “Marjani” clinic. They had the opportunity to master the latest mesotherapy techniques and receive a mesotherapy certificate signed by Dr. Philippe Petit.
2007 – Two associations “Anti-aging Medicine and Dermatovenerology” and “Mesotherapy Association of Georgia” were created on the initiative of the doctors of “Marjani” clinic. Marjani’s partner and friend Dr. Philippe Petit is an honorary member of these associations. In the same year, a conference of young scientists was held on the topic “Dermatovenereology in anti-aging medicine”. The conference was attended by students and residents of Tbilisi State Medical University, who were led by the head doctor of “Marjani” clinic, Prof. Nata Kiladze.
On June 18, 2008, a presentation/conference of two associations – “Anti-aging Medicine and Dermatovenerology” and “Mesotherapy Association of Georgia” was held at the initiative of the doctors of “Marjani” clinic in the exhibition hall of TBC Bank. Of course, the conference was visited by Dr. Philippe Petit and leading specialists of various fields of Georgia.
On October 17, 2012, the international conference “Anti-aging program and aesthetic medicine” was held in the assembly hall of the G. Eliava Institute of Bacteriophage, Microbiology and Virology in Tbilisi. The organizers of the conference were: “Marjani” Clinic, “Georgian Mesotherapy Association”, “Anti-aging Medicine and Dermatovenerology Association ” and “Georgian Association of Postgraduate Education Doctors”. Dr. Philip Petty, a regular guest of the clinic, was also invited to the conference. After the conference, he held consultations with Georgian doctors.
In 2012, by the initiative of the “Georgian Mesotherapy Association” and with the consent of Dr. Philippe Petit, mesotherapy study courses were created at the “Marjani” clinic, which issues a Georgian-French certificate with the signature of Dr. Philippe Petit.
In 2012, Dr. Teona Shulaia of the Marjani Clinic, participates in the seminar of dermatologists in Salzburg. In the same year, Teona Shulaia improves her qualifications in the field of dermatoscopy at the Vienna University Clinic in Austria with Prof. Harald Kittler. At the same time, “Dermato-oncology, dermatoscopy and skin optical diagnostics” association was created, on the initiative of “Marjani” doctors. Doctors of the Marjani Clinic presented the project – “Electronic health and m-health applications in teledermatology”.
The project involves diagnosing new skin growths and monitoring patients based on digital optical dermatoscopy and using the original algorithm – pattern analysis. The project was submitted to the US Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF -Global).
The winning project in the competition was implemented in Tbilisi, at the base of the “Marjani” clinic, as well as in Adjara and Kakheti regions.
The association’s mission is to improve the management of skin cancer in Georgia, which includes: prevention of skin cancer, introduction and popularization of dermatoscopy and optical skin diagnostics.
On July 10-12, 2014, “Dermato-oncology, dermatoscopy and skin optical diagnostics” association and “Marjani” doctors took part in the exhibition “Georgian Innovations and Inventions for Business” organized by the Innovation and Technology Agency of Georgia, which was held at the “Expo Georgia” exhibition center.
On September 26, 2014, the “First Congress of Dermoscopy, Optical Skin Diagnostics and Mobile Teledermatoscopy in Georgia” was held. The conference was dedicated to innovative methods of early diagnosis of skin cancer. The results of the research obtained within the project were presented at the conference. Austrian and Polish guests invited to the conference held a lecture/presentation (master class) on the topic – possibilities of optical and mobile teledermatoscopy.
It is also important that the employees of “Marjani” Prof. Natalya Kiladze and Teona Shulaia translated from English to Russian Prof. Harald Kittler’s textbook “Dermatoscopy”, which was printed at the end of April 2014. The presentation of the mentioned manual was also held within the conference.
On April 16-18, 2015, the 4th World Congress of Dermatology – IDS 2015 will be held in Vienna, Teona Shulaia and Natalia Kiladze are invited as guests of honor to report to the attending public the results of dermatoscopic research and the experience gained within the framework of the project conducted in Georgia. Dermato-oncologist Teona Shulaia participated as a speaker at the congress. The topic of the report – “Dermatoscopic screening in Georgia” was the area of interest of the congress plenary session “Dermatoscopy in the world II”.
On May 12-14, 2016, was held the 2nd international conference “Modern aspects of dermatology and dermatoscopy in optimization of diagnosis of skin diseases”.
At the same time, a seminar-master class “School of Dermatology – Skin Cancer” was held within the framework of the conference. The master class was led by invited specialists: Philipp Tchandle, (Dept. of Dermatology Medical University of Vienna), Cliff Rosendahl, MD, PhD, University of Queensland, Australia and Simon Clark MD, PhD, (New Zealand), which was very interesting and important for those doctors who worked in this field.
September 16-17, 2017 – was hold the 3-rd international conference and seminar “School of skin cancer – dermatoscopy advances in dermatooncology” which is supported by University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia and Depart. of Dermatology Medical University of Vienna.
Topic of conference: modern aspects of dermatoscopy, dermatoscopy as innovative method of diagnosing, monitoring, prevention and surgical aspects of treatment. Participants and speaker of the conference are leading experts in different medical field – dermatologists, morphologists, surgeons, oncologists from Georgia (Tbilisi and regions: Adjara, Kakheti, etc.), United States, Austria, Australia, France, Turkey, Poland, Great Britain and Ukraine.

On June 14-16, 2018, the 5th World Congress of Dermoscopy was held in Thessaloniki, Greece. Teona Shulaia and Natalia Kiladze are invited as guests of honor. Teona Shulaia gave a report on “non-melanoma skin cancer” cases.
On May 10-15, 2019, the International Dermoscopy Congress and Master Class was held in Lviv, Ukraine, where Teona Shulaia and Natalia Kiladze are invited as guests of honor.
In 2023, the Marjani Clinic became the “Clinic/Base” of the “Dermatovenerology” residency program of the Tbilisi State Medical University. On the basis of the agreement with the University, the Marjani Clinic provides post-diploma medical education with an accredited program of residency and continuous professional development.
